Trigger Warning: Racism (Damn, I was so shocked that I didn't quite think to put this up here. Whoops!)

...I'm still struggling to process this. )

Ya'll, Guess What?!

Nyahahahahahaha! :D :D :D

I bought three of the songs on iTunes:

I tear up at Pray You Catch Me and I otherwise just...feel it deep, deep in my heart and soul as a fellow black woman. I feel it and I know what it means.

I gleefully flip everything off at Sorry. 'Tis the only reaction for such a wonderful, freeing song!!

And I...well, I do just about everything to Formation because I like my negro nose with Jackson 5 nostrils and I'm getting into Formation, okay?!

The songs are $1.29 and I'm on a budget, so Imma get Sandcastles (such a beautiful, heart wrenching number that brings just as much tears to my eyes as Pray You Catch Me) later on.

I am in Black Gal Magic Heaven for sure!!!

Ya'll seen this epic syncopated tap dancing by black ladies to Beyoncé's Formation? Ya'll seen it yet? 'Tis wonderful. You find yourself holding your breath as you watch because it's so amazing.

My people are beautiful. My people are talented. My people are perfect. My people are lit.

Alright, everyone! The first few episodes are FINALLY on
Hulu! Let's go! Fighting evil by moonlight shall prevail! :D :D :D :D :D :D

And in case you're wondering? Yes. Yes, I have tears in my eyes. I grew up on the Cry Baby Fails All Her Tests Meatball Head That Can't Walk And Eat Ice Cream At The Same Time. This has been coming for a decade, dears-a decade.

More good news, by the way that I didn't mention earlier? The lesbian couple (Sailor Uranus & Sailor Neptune) will not be edited into being cousins. This Sailor Moon is completely uncut, as it should be! Woooooooooo!!!

So, without further ado, my friends...to Hulu! :D

Yes, dearest friends! A black actress by the name of Quvenzhané Wallis is going to play the new Annie! Yes, it's a black Annie! I remember I teared up when I watched the trailer because I-and I imagine a lot of other people of color-needed something like this SO MUCH when we were growing up.

Besides yet another score point for positive representation (you have a black female child Allowed To Be Vulnerable and a black man Allowed To Be A Father Figure), it is an essential commentary on yesterday, today's and tomorrow's inequality. It's going to make people uncomfortable and it's going to make people uncomfortable in the right way. It's going to, I hope, open up a lot of doors as far as conversation about race, color, oppression, representation, etc. goes. And I also hope that, if this door to the conversation opens...that, for once, the voices that have absolutely nothing productive, relevant, and/or helpful to say are the ones that are not heard as the loudest (*gives a side glare to Fox News*).

So I'm so stoked for this Annie movie coming out in December and I hope I get a chance to see it!

To the amazing Ms. Wallis? You go girl! :D

Alrighty, dears! I have been a Tumblr-phile lately and have found a ton of wonderful things! And Silver Adept was kind enough to show me how to imbed links so that my dearest, lovely readers do not have to scroll down for the numbered links (I imagine that’s not fun and I apologize. I'll go back and clean them up soon!). So here we go!

Here is this oh-so-wonderful Tumblr blog about the representation, role, and overall presence of people of color in the past! Hint: No, you will not learn about this in American and European classrooms.
TW: Racism, erasure, historical & cultural appropriation, asshole painters that crop/paint over people of color

An epic comic about race relations in America!
TW: Racism, claims of reverse racism, slavery

There is a Batgirl that is Asian, an abusive survivor, disabled, and generally awesome.
TW: Abuse, muteness, disability

No, seriously. Cassandra Cain exists and I’ve quickly become one of her number one fans.
TW: Abuse, muteness, disability

Our Afghan sisters! Looking badass as always!
TW: Overload of Pure Awesome Sauce

An homage to Dia de los Muertos that’s beautifully done and without cultural appropriation!
TW: Death, grief, loss

A black man speaking out about Rape Culture via gut-wrenching, tear-inducing poetry
TW: Rape Culture

Another Button Poetry session that speaks of violence and marginalization against black boys and men. You may need tissues.
TW: Racism, interracial crime, police brutality, violence

Ethnic Sailor Moon! Fuckin’ hell yeah! Where was this all my life?!
TW: Overload of Pure Awesome Sauce

A word of encouragement to us aspiring and currently-writing fan fiction authors!

A wonderful, anti-fat hatred cartoon of a chubby mermaid! Simply wonderful!

This fan fiction site may be well-known, but I thought I’d still put it up here. Plenty of yaoi for us yaoi fangirls, too! *winks*
Note: The Trigger Warnings on this site are specific and well-categorized. They very much help the reader to both gravitate towards and gravitate away from what they wish to read. It’s even better than fanfiction.net, in my opinion. ^ ^

*ahem* Well, then! I hope that’s enough link spamming for you guys! And thanks again to Silver Adept for showing me how to properly link! :D
