Made My 1st Apple Crisp!
Trigger warning: food
We bought the box (yes, it came out of a box) and the needed ingredients a good while ago. Mommy suggested that we save it for when we made Thanksgiving dinner. And hooray, it was delicious!

So the first thing was of course to get all of the ingredients out. From right to left: the mixing bowl with the mixing spatula; the two cans of fried apples with cinnamon; then, the little yellow box with its barcode facing up is the butter (which I learned is really not the same as margarine); the plain white package is some cinnamon leftover from another recipe; the box behind the cinnamon is cornstarch (and it smells like…a box); the can opener; and last, but most certainly not least, the actual box for the apple crisps!
And yeah, our counter here is pretty crowded. Just the way it should be for Thanksgiving cooking!

So we opened the cans of fried apples with cinnamon and put just a lil bit of sugar (which you can’t quite see), about 2 ½ tablespoons of it atop the apples for taste. We only put a lil bit of sugar because Mommy had me taste just one piece of apple, I found it was pretty sweet, and so we only added just a little sugar.
The hand holding the open can is Mommy’s! She got pwetty nails, don’ she?

Next, we poured cornstarch over the apples.

After that was a stick worth of 5 tablespoons of butter atop that. Uhhh…we think that we did this wrong because the box’s instructions were kinda unclear even for Mommy; we have a feeling that the butter is only supposed to go with the box’s mixture. But! My apple crisps still came out delightfully wonderful!

Then, we mushed up and stirred up the butter with the apples, cornstarch, and sugar all together. It was kinda difficult for me to stir up and spread out the butter evenly. But Mommy helped me by taking over to show me how to use the mixing spatula like a makeshift knife to cut the butter up, stir, cut the butter up, stir…okay Amarie, you try it now. And yay! I got it!
We then poured the whole of the mixing bowl’s contents into the cake/baking pan. Mommy had to take over for me again to remind me to scrape the sides of the bowl with the mixing spatula so that I could get all of the contents into the pan.

Finally we could pour the box’s mixture over everything in the cake/baking pan! It kinda smelled cinnamon-y. This is where Mommy advised me to pour that whole bag of cinnamon in, too. I spread the whole thing over as evenly as I could (from the picture, did I do a good job? LOL!). And the person holding up the box with the oven mitt on is still Mommy!

Forty-five minutes later and voila! Simply delicious apple crisp! Now, the apple crisp is the dish you see closest to the camera. Behind it is the delicious stuffing and beside that is Mommy’s nasty sweet potato soufflé.
And when the apple crisp cooled down enough, I took a taste taste…or two. Or three. Or ten.
Then I had a whole ooey-gooey slice of it just to keep making sure that it was good. Teeheee!
Hope you all enjoyed! And, if you like, please feel free to share any new foods you’ve recently made!
