Smartphone & I are Insufferable Weatherwomen

Like, ya'll. It's...just incredible 'cause I'm Super Duper Excitable & Grateful Black Gal #1.

My. Phone. Shows. The. Weather. For. Free.

OMFG.

I have never once been able to just check the weather with a simple click and swipe of my finger. (Uhhh..."click"? Is that right word, technically? You know, for a touchscreen? Is it???)

And so you know what I've been doing? On the way to school, I literally briefed my mom on the weather. While we were in the car. A car with windows. Where we can see the weather.

I did it again, not five minutes ago while my mom was taking a bath. My mom saw the phone in my hands and burst out laughing as I asked, "Hey, want a weather update, Mama? The temperature has climbed since this morning! It's phenomenal! You should see it!"

And I literally sat there on the toilet beside my laughing mother while she bathed and told her all about the weather. We are weatherwomen, my phone and I. :D

I've also given my phone a gender & name: she is "Bleepy" because of the sound she makes when I unlock the screen. :D :D :D

Does anyone wanna know the weather? :D

Yes but the car with windows does not let you see the weather prediction for tonight! (Unless you're just that good. I am not just that good.) Weather apps are the win.

Flashlight apps are also the win (though they eat battery, omg.)

Can you do your email on your smartphone? That was the thing I was geeking out about for, like, days. (I have two email accounts. I can get them BOTH on my smartphone. I could do more than that!)

This is the sort of thing that makes me feel like... wow, we live in the FUTURE.

Yaaaay! \o/ And yeah, GB is the right unit*. *s* Video eats 'em quick!

Whoa, that's a super fast charge! o.o Mine sits on its charger overnight.

...right? I still own cassette tapes and VHS... not that anything can read them any more. orz The VHS player died well before the tapes. And now it's all Blu-Ray and hi-def TVs and I still cannot keep all those abbreviations for the eleventy different kinds (!) in my head, but it doesn't matter because I can use my camera-equipped, wireless-networked pocket-supercomputer** to look for someone else's expertise, standing right there on the floor in the shop!

... yeah, I am That Person. Sorry.

Still, though.

*Gigabytes, "gigs" in computer slang, measurement for data by volume. My apologies if this is unnecessary or 'splainy; I hear a lot of confusion about this.

**There's a factoid going around that each smartphone has more raw computing power than all of NASA in 1969. They put a guy on the moon with that.

Generally, "tap" is the term with a touchscreen most resembling a click.

And yes, weather apps and other such things are fantastic...and will eat data with their default settings. So yes, be careful with what you have.

Haha, another weather geek! My partner always knows what's going on with the weather. He called me over earlier to show me that it's going to be below freezing every night until Monday. I find his intense interest amusing, but also useful, because I can just ask him whether I should put on my coat when I go out.
