You know, I never realized before how cleanly this opening material uses comedy to take the tension off the plot structure at crucial moments. Like Sokka's designated role as "poke fun at Aang's mysticism," serving to take some of the Sad out of remembering Roku's name and knowing you were him... (and yeah, he's a good-looking fellow, too!)
I get the feeling Katara is so done with the lemur shenanigans, before they ever really begin. Ah, Katara. I'm looking forward to her Super Srs wearing thin a bit; it does her a service.
