My mom talks about having "boyfriends" in elementary school and it freaks me out. But it definitely is a time when you can have special friendships and the connection lasts even when you don't see each other for years.
My bestest friend in 4th grade, who I got in huge trouble for accidentally punching, keeps sending sweet messages on FB about finding our art projects from back then. But I never really know how to continue the conversation.
