Compare this with what just happened with Iroh and Zuko. Zuko is trying to grow up as fast as he can, because Ozai isn't letting him have a childhood where he can be a kid and make mistakes. Iroh is applying as much brakes to this idea as he can get away with, because he sees how it is hurting his nephew.
Aang,on the other hand, doesn't want to grow up or take the very adult responsibilities handed to him. He will, eventually, but he is far more aware of the fact that once you start the journey to adulthood, it only accelerates. So, instead, he wants to have fun and be with a pretty girl for as long as he can before he has to go back to being the Avatar.
They're both working in extremes, and will have to be brought back into balance, but Zuko has the target journey of the two right now, and it will take [SPOILERS] before he can actually provisionally accomplish it.
