I think a good rule of thumb to use here is: If the text provides a justification for Edward/Bella-like behavior from the Martin characters, talk about the text. If the text does not provide a reason, and the behavior is out of character for what the text had previously established, but fully in line with what Twilight provides, reference Twilight.
Or, more simply: If Grey abyss like Edward, but we're told this is how Grey acts, stay with Grey. If Grey acts like Edward and we aren't told this is how Grey acts, reference Twilight.
