Oh, I've tried it, too. And had people push it at me as how I ought to write, since I generally go for, um, I don't know the technical term, but a kind of third person that only has access to specific people's thoughts. It gets used a lot in space adventure and in romance. But, the thing is, even though I still follow people tightly, the camera's out of their head (though I'll include some thoughts) and can zip off somewhere else if needed.
You know, I don't think I've encountered that many romances written in first person. *eyes Fifty Shades of Gray curiously* I guess that's a holdover from it being Twilight fanfic, but man is that going to make the sex scenes weird. (Okay, I'm borderline asexual, sex scenes are always a bit weird to me. Still, a first person sex scene seems extra-weird.)
