Yes, dearest friends! A black actress by the name of Quvenzhané Wallis is going to play the new Annie! Yes, it's a black Annie! I remember I teared up when I watched the trailer because I-and I imagine a lot of other people of color-needed something like this SO MUCH when we were growing up.

Besides yet another score point for positive representation (you have a black female child Allowed To Be Vulnerable and a black man Allowed To Be A Father Figure), it is an essential commentary on yesterday, today's and tomorrow's inequality. It's going to make people uncomfortable and it's going to make people uncomfortable in the right way. It's going to, I hope, open up a lot of doors as far as conversation about race, color, oppression, representation, etc. goes. And I also hope that, if this door to the conversation opens...that, for once, the voices that have absolutely nothing productive, relevant, and/or helpful to say are the ones that are not heard as the loudest (*gives a side glare to Fox News*).

So I'm so stoked for this Annie movie coming out in December and I hope I get a chance to see it!

To the amazing Ms. Wallis? You go girl! :D
