Happy, Happy Black History Month!
Monday, February 1st, 2016 01:30 pm-throws rainbow confetti in the air-
Anybody wanna talk about important black people, events, time periods both then and now?
I'll start by commemorating the LGBTQIA activist Ms. Marsha P. Johnson! She was a transgender black woman who was one of the revolutionary big players in starting the Stonewall Riots, which led into what we know as Pride Parades today. (TW: transphobia)
May you rest in power, Ms. Marsha P. Johnson! :D

Date: 2016-02-02 03:40 pm (UTC)Oooh, links!
My workplace does a thing where every week during Black History Month, they send out a quiz on famous black people in history. This week's theme appears to be The Arts, and to my delight they mentioned the Harlem Renaissance. \o/
Today, I have been reading about Zora Neale Hurston and Alaine Locke. Fascinating people, both of them! I've read some of her work, and am thinking I ought to find some of his, as well as take a wiki-walk and see who else I can find.
