THANK YOU, LONESPARK!!!!!
Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 01:23 pmSo Lonespark told me a few days ago that she wanted to send me a few things. I was worried it’d be too expensive and/or inconvenient for her, but she said it was just some…paper…that she wanted to give me.
It’s funny because when the package came? It’s a…kind of a rectangular package and so I thought it was something strange that my mother ordered from Publishing Clearing House (or, as usual, they just keep sending her free shit because they wanna make nice with her wallet) and thus I just put it in my mom’s room for her to find and open later. I didn’t even bother reading the addresses on it! Whoops!
But then Mom came in from work the next morning, looked at it, and told me that it was actually mine and so I should open it! OMFG, I got so excited because I was like, “That’s definitely not PCH’s handwriting!” I opened it and, indeed, there was paper in there!
And boy, is it wonderful paper!!! I took these selfies just this afternoon so you can see that I got them! (I was in my backyard-but don’t worry, none of my neighbors were staring while I was taking selfies, haha!)

Lonespark sent me:
The first issue of the black-and-white comic Sankofa Guard by James “Mase” Mason! I just read finished reading it for the second time over breakfast this morning! Like, do ya’ll know how much Awesome Sauce this is? Ya’ll know how much Black Girl Excellence this is?! It’s the story of an African woman, Lady Sankofa, that’s the leader of this elite group of space peacekeepers and first responders! It was and will always be just…ethereal for me to read those first few pages and see a black woman that looks like me floating in no gravity in a spaceship as she sleeps!
The plot of the first issue follows her as she single-handedly saves Earth from an incoming asteroid using a sacred sun spear! She gets that sun spear from her home, Africa, and it reminds me so much of Marvel’s Black Panther’s Wakanda. It’s Afrofuturism to a T! And at the end of the story, Mase drew diagrams of Sankofa’s space suit to explain how it works/what it helps her do! It’s Awesome Sauce all the way around!!!
Then, a Sam Wilson!Cap poster! With his wings flared and his shield proud and out!!! I already own a few Sam!Cap comics as it is, and so this is a wonderful addition to my general Sam!Cap collection!! It really, truly is!!!
And a huge fucking Tuskegee Heirs: Flames of Destiny poster, complete with a little Tuskegee Heirs dog tag!!! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I live! I die! I live again!!!
I am in Black Gal Magic Heaven for sure!!!!!!
Lonespark wrote “To Amarie for being awesome!” all over the place, too! Thank you oh-so much!! Also, I think that all of these things are…signed? Personally signed by their creator? Either way, this is all fucking amazing!!
Lonespark, my mother thanks you, too! She’s very, very happy and grateful that you thought enough of me to send me these wonderful things at all! Teehee!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
