Love you all and Imma do my best to get those 90 minutes in!!

I Got Pictures for Ya'll!
Friday, November 10th, 2017 10:51 amTrigger Warning: Mention of exercise
Soooo last night I got to see the new Thor: Ragnarok and...OMG. It was, uhh...well, pretty shocking and different, to say the least, haha! But overall a pretty good film and Valkyrie is a fucking black woman did I mention that holy shit my life is complete.
Also, after my walk this wonderfully-cold-as-fuck morning (I did thirty minutes! Yay!), I found one of my favorite staples of Fall/Winter-a rich, red autumn leaf. I was thankful that the wind wasn't really picking up so that when I was done with my walk, I could circle back to the pathway where I found it, picked it up, took some pictures of it, and then carried it back inside to share with Mommy!
I posted the pictures on my Tumblr, and so here you go!
Me in my pwetty, awesome-sauce Thor: Ragnarok t-shirt that I got w/the purchase of a big ass tub of popcorn:

(Never done a cutesy, silly selfie before. 'Twas fun!!)
And then here is my leaf from this morning. It's really pretty and I really want to preserve it, so Mommy and I looked up ways to do so online and found this site. I've never tried to preserve a leaf before, and so I think Imma go with the wax-and-iron method, since we got wax paper and, well...an iron and an ironing board, too. That sounds legit!

Are ya'll enjoying Autumn so far? :D

Happy, Happy Blackout Day, Everyone!
Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 06:30 pm
Ohhh, so glad I remembered to participate! See, I put it in my phone's calendar for when I get out of school and voila!
Hope you all enjoy and, please, if you're black and have a selfie to share, feel free to do so in the comments! -SQUEEEE!!-
Cautionary Note: Umm...please excuse the stray hairs/slightly loose clumps in this picture that I took...in the evening...when it's still hot and humid out. See, Afro and me are truly lovers at this point. Just as with every morning (or whatever time I wake up...haha...hah...hah), I faithfully let Afro get a bit damp in the shower, then rub a leave-in moisturizer deep, deep into my hair all the way to the roots; this time I'm using a wonderful shea butter one.
(And now I'm rambling here, but I just treated myself to a coconut oil-based hot oil treatment last night, after a looooooooong day of cleaning house top-to-bottom. Ahhh, there's just something therapeutic about walkin' around the house with a shower cap on your head for 15 minutes while your hair gets a nice, deep conditioning.)
Anyway!
So, yes, Afro and I take good care of each other...but towards the end of the day, even in lovely September, Afro kinda loses her battle against the leftover heat and humidity. And that's what you're seeing here.
It's a good, hard-fought battle, though. It really, really is. :P
Happy Blackout Day

I actually took these a week or two ago for this day. I felt so snuggly and warm and smart with my blue sweater underneath my mom's black coat collar! Squee!! And my makeup was on fleek, haha!
Anybody else have any Blackout selfies today, please feel free to share in the comments! Share away, my beautiful fellow black people! :D

Saw Star Wars & Sailor Moon Won!
Saturday, December 19th, 2015 06:25 pmNote: Spoiler-free space here!
I know Silver voted for Deadpool, but Sailor Moon won in a landslide! (Deadpool next time, Silver!)
So I just had to take selfies this morning before the movie! I felt like this was my first-ever true experience seeing a Star Wars movie (it’s not, actually; I saw Revenge of the Sith many, many years ago and it left a…lukewarm impression). So here we are!

Umm…it was a pretty great movie! Lot of things I loved and, fortunately, I felt like I did just enough research that I understood what was going on and I could follow the story pretty well. It really lived up to all the hype, but unfortunately…I don’t quite think it made a big, big Star Wars fan of me. But please do remember that it had a great uphill battle as far as converting me! And it almost did!
By the way, the movie ends with Finn, played by John Boyega, asking me for his hand in marriage. I heartily accept and we spend the rest of our lives exploring the galaxy, kicking Sith butt and wielding flower lightsabers.
Yes.

Note This Next #Blackout Theme!
Monday, December 14th, 2015 08:59 amThis new information came across my dash a while ago and so I thought I’d share it with you all. You know the next Blackout Day isn’t far off-it’s December 21st, whooo! This #Blackout has a theme and it’s education! Also note that the link is from the official Tumblr #Blackout blog and I’m quite sure that they’re more-than open to answering any other questions you may have.
To quote the announcement page directly:
True beans there, friends. True fuckin’ beans.
Oohhh, I already know how Imma tweak my own selfie for this! Can’t wait to do it and then share it!
So everyone keep this in mind, have fun and be sure to show off all that beautiful black melanin for all the world to see!!!

To quote the announcement page directly:
No matter where you are on earth, everyone has a right to a safe and affordable education. Nelson Mandela once said the “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” However, systems built on the principles of classism and racism allow those that are in power to control access to higher education so that only the privileged may access this valuable resource. Within the last few months, the youths of South Africa let it be known that the rising cost of their college fees were unacceptable and stood in protest to defend their right to affordable and accessible education. South Africa has a long history of student protests going way back to the anti-Apartheid marches that predated South Africa’s democracy. On October 23, 2015, after rounds of nationwide student protesting, the student leaders managed to stop fees from raising within their university.
Even here in the United States, the activism of black students is also front and center as we express concern for the safety of black students as racism on campuses shows that despite having broken down so many barriers, there’s still a long way to go.
Inspired by the students of South Africa and the importance of continued black student resistance, our theme for the last Blackout of 2015 is ‘Education, Not Compromise’.
True beans there, friends. True fuckin’ beans.
Oohhh, I already know how Imma tweak my own selfie for this! Can’t wait to do it and then share it!
